Why are grip socks so expensive?
How much does a grip sock cost?
Grip socks are widely used in all sorts of industries, especially in the sporting industry. They come in all sorts of lengths, sizes, and features. Grip sock prices vary between 10 and 40 dollars, and there is a good reason for that. In this short blog, I'll explain in this short blogpost why grip socks can be really expensive or cheap.
Why are some grip socks really expensive
When it comes to calculating the price of a grip sock, we have to consider a lot of factors: material usage, material features, grip quality, sock features, and sizing. An expensive grip sock will have a lot of special sock features tand thoughtful material usage. These will translate to a great experience with excellent comfort that will last a long time.
Material Usage
The materials used in a higher-end grip sock will not rip during the first week of using them. When we compare the grip pattern of an expensive and cheap grip sock, we will see two huge differences:
1) Cheap grip socks tend to have very bulky and large grip spots. These grip spots will come loose after a couple of light training sessions.
2) The main material used in a cheap grip sock is cotton. These socks will feel comfy when putting on but will be a real disaster when you start sweating. Cotton will absorb all your sweat and will leave you with sweaty and wet feet, which are the main factors of blisters and bad foot health. High-quality grip socks tend to have low cotton usage, which will help you take care of your sweaty feet on the field.
Durability
Another reason why high-end grip socks will be on the more expensive side is the fact that their durability is at least twice as long as normal grip socks. The durability from a sock comes from the material usage and the toughtfull proces of adding extra padding and stitching to high friction areas like the toes. The difference in durability of Nylon sock in comparison to Cotton sock is large. The Nylon sock will outperfrom the cotton sock on all durability tests.
When calculating the cost of buying two pairs of normal grip socks, it will come close to buying one quality grip sock. With the quality grip sock, you will enjoy the real quality benefits of grip socks.
